Hair on the human body is a holdover from prehistoric days. Back then, before the advent of fire, man needed hair on their bodies to stay warm just in the same was as any other animal on the planet. Prehistoric man was much harrier than today’s modern man although there are some men and even women who way more body hair than others.
Hair removal has been practiced throughout the ages in different cultures and in the early times it was really mostly limited to the removal of facial hair.
During the 20th century, there was a shift from not removing body hair to removing it among some group of people. In the beginning of the hair removal movement, many adult film stars started the trend by removing all their body hair for their films.
As time wore on, athletes started to removing body hair and it seemed to improve performance by reducing air friction most notably in swimming and cycling.
Today, it’s pretty much a personal preference as to whether or not you decided to remove your body hair. Some people really like it and others think it’s weird. Once you do remove your body hair and keep it off for a while, you will find the thought of letting grow back can be repulsive.
That leads into the battle of the body hair removal methods. While laser is the most preferred and more permanent method, it is costly and can be embarrassing going to a clinic so there are many other techniques on the market.
With the introduction of the home laser hair removal system, removing body hair can now be a more accepted method since you can do it in the privacy of your own home.
When ever asked by someone why I lack body hair, I just tell them I’m more highly evolved than most people and leave it at that.
